3 Day Live Event Rigging

Covering rigging operations and equipment within the live event industry, this course is suitable for novices as well as those with more experience.

Course runs 09:00 – 17:00 each day

Course Overview

A comprehensive program designed to provide trainees with essential knowledge and skills related to safe lifting operations and the use of lifting equipment. This course has a bias towards hands-on practical training, focusing on the safe and efficient assembly and disassembly of rigging equipment commonly used in live event rigging operations. Trainees will learn about industry best practices, relevant legislation, and practical techniques to work as a rigger safely and effectively, ensuring they can contribute to a safer working environment.

Course Outcomes

On completion of the course, trainees will:

  • Have knowledge of safe working practices, including work at height, and relevant regulations.
  • Identify the general hazards encountered in lifting operations.
  • Understand the principles and techniques of safe lifting operations.
  • Perform basic load assessment, including load distribution and centre of gravity.
  • Identify different types of rigging equipment and their applications.
    • Safely assemble, dismantle, and store rigging equipment and accessories.
    • Demonstrate an understanding of various rigging methods and their applications in different scenarios.

Understand and demonstrate safe work at height using Personal Fall Protection Equipment commonly used within the industry.

Trainee Requirements

  • Minimum 18 years of age on first day of course.
  • Trainees need to be physically fit and free from any disability or medical condition that may prevent them from working safely.
  • Trainees will need to complete a declaration of medical fitness.

On completion of the course trainees will have:

  • A greater understanding of, and confidence in, undertaking live event rigging operations.
  • Course notes.
  • A numbered certificate of attendance.
  • Trainee Discount on PFPE ordered from us, valid up to 30 days after the course. T&C’s apply.

What equipment do I need for the course?

We provide everything required except suitable work clothes and footwear.

Are there any entry requirements?

There are no entry requirements for this course.

What is the trainer ratio?

The Trainer to Trainee ratio for this course is 6:1.

Is there a minimum age requirement?

You must be at least 18 years old on the first day of the course.

Do I need to send you any additional information?

Dietary and access requirements are covered on the booking form however if you have any health conditions or feel there is anything we should be aware of before the course please let us know.

How do I get course information once I have booked?

Joining Instructions will be emailed to you 3 days before the course is due to start. Please make sure you have added training@riggingteam.com to your safe sender list.

Will the course make me a ‘qualified’ rigger?

Attending a training course cannot make you competent or qualified but it will identify areas you need to work on. In the UK, employers must provide adequate training for work activity where there are risks to your (or anyone else’s) health or safety as a result of the work you do. Undertaking training with Rigging Team may help to satisfy that requirement.

How can I become a ‘qualified’ rigger?

Currently, the only qualification for entertainment rigging in the UK is the National Rigging Certificate (NRC) awarded by PLASA.
